The set comes with six color products + a look book featuring a day look + a night look.
Okay that is probably the longest title I’ve ever had to do for a post…hoping it doesn’t happen again. But that isn’t stopping me from sharing this box of colorful makeup goodies. I bought this from Ulta back in the beginning of June but this is the first time I’ve used all six products for a look.
In all honesty I cannot say that I’m disappointed with any of the color choices used or the performance of any of the products. I’m usually pleased with almost anything I get from NYX though this was a first for me using the soft matte lip cream….my daughter just came up to my desk + took the pretty little box this collection was housed in. I told her when I was finished with the review she could have it…she pays attention all too well lol. Back to the review.
Soft Matte Lip Cream ‘Istanbul’
I was so afraid this would be too pale, too matte + too creamy. In this case I loved being wrong. I wear this color probably a few times a week now. It’s really silky + the color is super flattering on my full lips.
Jumbo Eye Pencil ‘Cashmere’
I love gold shades + this goes on super smooth, is blendable/buildable + didn’t crease on me.
Le Frou Frou Boudouir Mascara + Smokey Eye Shadow Palette
I paired these two together for a while {with a nude skin tone lip}. The look is super smokey + sexy without being overwhelming. The best way {i.m.o} to get away with a full face when your day starts before 9 am.
Just from another angle {because I could}. You can also see the studio liquid liner in the back ‘Extreme Black’; another amazing product that was a little tricky at first but only because the handle is so small.
Taken with a flash {happened purely by accident when I forgot to change the camera settings but you can see the shimmer better so I kept it}.
Pressed Blush ‘Pinched’
This brush could easily assist with a “no-makeup” look. It adds subtle color that works with almost any other colors.
Look Book
I didn’t really follow any of the suggestions but I do like how they explained blending a couple of shades to achieve a different color. I think it encourages you to get creative with the eye shadow palette. The only two rules I believe about makeup are 1} No animal should have to suffer just so you can look good + 2} The only requirements for it to be “right” is that YOU have to wear it well. Being comfortable in your own skin is where it all starts.
My Look
I used the brown + purple shades from the smokey palette along with the cashmere eye pencil, studio liner + mascara on my eyes. I also paired with soft matte lip cream with NYX slim lip liner “Mahogany” to make my lips just a tad darker to avoid the washed out look since I was wearing white.
A close-up of my eyes during the “process”. I think I had applied one coat of the mascara.
The other thing I loved about this set is the price. I paid $24.99 {minus a discount from a coupon promotion} but even without the discount this collection is still a steal because purchased individually the price would be at least $10 more.
